Tearl Don Covington, born January 22, 1935 in Prescott, Arkansas passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of May 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Family will host a visitation from 6-8 pm on Friday, May 29, at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. A graveside service for Mr. Covington will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, May 30, on family property at TLC Ranch in Zephyr, Texas.
Tearl was a longtime resident of Denver City and Zephyr, Texas. He lived a life marked by hard work, deep love for his family, and a passion for the people and places that meant the most to him.
In 1964, Tearl co-founded Production Fishing and Rental Tools in Denver City, Texas with his cousin and business partner, Johnny Ashcraft. Through years of dedication and perseverance, he built not only a successful business, but lifelong friendships and respect throughout the oilfield community.
In 1983, he established the TLC Ranch, a place that became one of the great joys of his life. He loved the ranch and the life built around it – gathering with family and friends, working the land, and creating memories that will remain for generations. Tearl was a man who loved his work, cherished his friendships, and above all treasured his family. His strength, wisdom, humor, and steady presence left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Covington, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. He is also survived by his children: Beth Bradley of Midland, Curtis Covington of Midland, Jimmie Weeks of Lufkin, Jami Ivey and her husband Robert of Waco, and Kristy Shurbet of Lubbock.
He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Molly Tucker and husband Jake of Lubbock, Chad Head and wife Emma of Athens, True Head and wife Audrey of Ashe County, North Carolina, Mackinley Covington and wife Kim of Lubbock, Storrie Pratt and husband Gabe of Waxahachie, Cadence Shurbet of Lubbock, Ashtin Kimple and husband Payne of Stephenville, and Savannah Levisay and husband Chad of Stephenville.
His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Zoe Tucker, Adair Pratt, Fallan Pratt, Alice Covington, Kaysa Kimple, and Gentry Kimple.
He was preceded in death by his four sisters and two brothers.
Tearl will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his love of ranch life, and the devotion he showed to his family and friends throughout his life. His memory will live on in the stories shared around family tables, on the land he loved, and in the many lives he touched.
