Jo Ann Linney, 87, of Rising Star, Tx., passed away on May 24, 2026. Family will host a visitation from 6-8 pm on Thursday, May 28, at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. A service for Jo Ann will be held at 10 am on Friday, May 29, at First Baptist Church in Rising Star.

Jo Ann was born on July 3, 1938, and lived a life marked by love, hard work, and devotion to her family and community. She attended Rising Star ISD, where through a mutual friend in high school, she met the love of her life-the beginning of a beautiful partnership that would last a lifetime.

Above all else, Jo Ann was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a cherished “Nanny”. Together with her husband, she built a life rooted in faith, family, and the land, raising four daughters who were the pride and joy of her life. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love, and her family was always at the center of everything she did.

As a farmer and rancher’s wife, Jo Ann was no stranger to hard work. She spent countless hours alongside her husband-plowing fields, working cattle, and doing whatever needed to be done. She approached every task with grit, determination, and quiet strength, never seeking recognition, only satisfaction in a job well done.

Outside of her work and family, Jo Ann found joy in tending to her garden. She especially loved her roses, nurturing them with the same patience and care she gave to everyone around her. Her garden was a reflection of who she was-beautiful, resilient, and lovingly cultivated.

Jo Ann leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and unwavering love. She will be remembered for her hardworking spirit, her gentle heart, and the countless ways she made life better for those who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on in the family she cherished, the values she instilled, and the many lives she touched.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Online condolences, memories and tributes can be made to the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net
