'Out of the Box' with Dallas Huston: Baseball standings

Okay, so I’ve been off from sports for a few weeks and now I’m back. I want to try to start something new as far as this baseball season is concerned because normally by this time I would have had four or five reports on the Houston Astros, and they would be favored to win the Pennant, and so forth. All of us need to be humbled every once in a while.

Seriously, in the American League West, they are about fifty games into the season and this was taken last Friday afternoon. The Athletics are 26-24. They’ve got first place. The Rangers are second. Mariners are third, and Astros are fourth and struggling. The Angels are fifth. The Athletics, I don’t think, are good enough to win it and it will probably come down to the Rangers and the Mariners.

In the American League Central you’ve got the Guardians in first place with 30 wins and 22 losses. The White Sox are next then the Twins, Royals, and Tigers. I think it’s the Guardians all the way.

In the American League East the Rays are tops at 33 and 15. The Yankees are 30 and 21. The Blue Jays are 23-27 and the Orioles 21-29. The Rays, I think, are good enough to win it and the Yankees will be one of the Wild Cards.

Let’s go to the National League. The National League East, as of Friday, have the Braves as No. 1. They already have a nine and a half game lead over Philadelphia but I think both of them will make the playoffs.

In the Central Division the Brewers are No. 1 and then it’s the Cardinals, Cubs, Pirates and Reds. I think the Cubs will eventually come out with the Brewers.

The National League West has the Dodgers at 31-19 ahead of the Padres who may be good enough to make it this year. The Diamondbacks, then the Giants and so it goes in the National League.

But again, the American League is the one we’re most interested in. I think the Rangers and the Mariners will come out on top. The Astros, well, we’ll just wait until next year.
