Early Lady Horns 45, Millsap 14

EARLY – The Early Lady Horns opened District 8-3A action Friday night with a 45-14 home victory over Millsap.

Early (12-4, 1-0) led 10-3 after one period, 17-7 at the midway point, and 30-10 after three quarters.

The Lady Horns received 16 points from Gabby Benson, 15 from Aliyah Harlan, six from Andie Simpson, four from Mia Gomez, and two points each from Cali Vargas and Abby Ferguson.

Early next visits Peaster at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Brookesmith Lady Mustangs 14, Rochelle 13

RISING STAR – In a defensive struggle, the No. 22 Brookesmith Lady Mustangs held on to their undefeated record with a 14-13 victory over Rochelle Friday at the Rising Star tournament.

Tied at 2 after one quarter, Brookesmith led 7-5 at halftime and 11-8 going to the fourth period.

Scoring for Brookesmith (11-0) were Brooklyn Haby with 11 points, Emma Slayton with two, and Ameriah Balleza with one point.

Zephyr Lady Bulldogs 40, Rocksprings 38

ZEPHYR – The Zephyr Lady Bulldogs secured a spot in the championship game of their own tournament with a 40-38 victory over the Rocksprings Lady Angoras Friday.

Zephyr led 15-9 after one quarter, 24-21 at intermission, and 33-26 heading into the fourth period, and held on down the stretch.

Avery Stevens paced Zephyr with 13 points followed by 10 each from Calyn Kubin and Kenlyn King, three from Kirstan King, and two points each from Sydnee Simpson and Sydney Hobson.

The Lady Bulldogs (8-6) will square off with Gorman at 5 p.m. Saturday in the championship game.

May Tigers 60, San Angelo Central JV 50

Blanco 50, May Tigers 45

BRADY – The May Tigers split Friday’s two games at the Brady tournament, opening with a 50-45 loss to Blanco only to rebound with a 60-50 victory over the San Angelo Central JV.

In May’s win, the Tigers trailed Central 10-9 after one quarter, opened a 30-25 halftime edge, and carried a 44- 31 advantage into the fourth period.

Kobey Morris poured in 22 points for May trailed by Jackson Lusk with 13, Kaden Watkins with 10, Brody Stice with eight, and Tyran Perry with five points.

In the Tigers’ loss May trailed Blanco 7-4 after one quarter, 20-14 at halftime, and 33-31 heading to the final stanza.

Morris scored 16 points for the Tigers trailed by 15 from Stice, and seven each from Lusk and Tyran Perry.

The Tigers conclude tournament play at 10:30 a.m. Saturday against Mason.

Lampasas 52, May Lady Tigers 32

BRADY – The May Lady Tigers suffered a second straight loss to open Brady tournament action Friday, falling to Class 4A Lampasas, 52-32.

The Lady Tigers led 13-10 after one quarter, fell behind 25-16 at halftime, and faced a 33-25 deficit heading into the final stanza.

Jordyn Gerhardt scored 21 points for May trailed by six from Cortney Harper, three from McKenna Landes, and two points from Aubree Gerhardt.
