Edward Doss (“Eddie”) Jones Jr. passed away July 3, 2025, in Austin, Texas. He was born on August 9, 1950, in San Diego, California, to Mary Jo Sutton and Chief Petty Officer Edward Doss Jones Sr.
He is survived by Louise Sanders of Lometa, Texas; daughter Terri Wooten Pointer and her husband Jack Pointer of Brownwood, Texas; son Edward Jones and his wife Stephanie Jones of Copperas Cove, Texas; and son Eric Jones and his wife Megan Smart of Burnet, Texas.
Eddie is remembered by his grandchildren: Casen Wooten, Jordan Wooten and Megan Pointer of Brownwood, Texas; Maci Hunter and husband Ben Hunter of Abilene, Texas; Cheyanne and Adelynn Jones of Copperas Cove, Texas; Silas Jones of Burnet, Texas; Breana Blackwell of Lubbock, Texas and great-grandchildren Brealynn Duncan, Keagan Duncan, Avery Duncan, Elijah Hunter and Paisley Blackwell.
He is also survived by his sister, Katey Jones Dawson of San Saba, Texas; his brother-in-law, Jimmy Don Edmondson of Big Spring, Texas; and numerous cousins.
Eddie’s extended family includes Connie Sanders Greer, Jan Sanders Curiel, and Wayne Sanders; along with grandchildren Cathy Sanders Smith, Ty Curiel, Amanda Curiel Patterson, Samantha Sanders, and Britney Greer Norrell.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather Carl Devore; his sister Karen Jones Edmondson; brothers Carl and Kirk Jones; and his beloved aunt, Mamie Gay.
Edward proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1973. Following his military service, he managed Barnes Lumber Company in Pearsall and San Saba, Texas. In 1989, he joined the Texas Department of Transportation in the Brownwood District, based in San Saba, where he worked faithfully for 25 years until his retirement in August 2009.
A Freemason, Past Master Edward Jones served more than forty years with the San Saba Masonic Lodge #612 and the Austin Scottish Rite Lodge #20. He was honored with the Lodge’s highest recognition, the Golden Trowel Award.
Affectionately known as “Fast Eddie,” he was a proud lifetime member of the Llano Gypsy Motorcycle Club, serving ten years as President.
Eddie will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel, San Saba. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of San Saba.
