Mike Burkeen, 64, of De Leon, passed from this life at his home, Sunday February 2, 2025. The family will hold a memorial service to celebrate his life at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled through Heartland Funeral and Cremation of Comanche.

Michael Ray Burkeen was born July 19, 1960 in De Leon, Tx to James and Nell (Gooden) Burkeen. He attended and graduated from De Leon High School. He married Patsy Crim December 29, 2008, in Comanche Tx. He was employed at Croell Concrete. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, spending time with the love of his life Patsy, playing with the dogs, arguing with Granny Ann, and building lots of things around the house.

Mike was the most lovable, genuine, hardworking man you ever met. He loved to bark orders and make his opinion known. Mike was also the man that would show up at 2am if needed and give you the shirt off his back. He never met a stranger. He may not remember your name but he would remember you. He worked hard his entire life and didn’t know how to rest. He was building himself a new shop half an hour before the Lord called him home. It was important to him that his value of hard work and dependability was passed on to his children, grandchildren and several “bonus” kids. Above all else, Mike treasured his time with family. He loved showing up to as many events for the grandkids as possible and making sure they had plenty of ice cream and vanilla cookies to “settle the stomach.” He found his other half with his wife, Patsy. Enjoying their many trips and remodeling adventures. If Mike didn’t have the answer, he would figure it out with you. The world lost a wonderful man. They don’t make them like him anymore.

Mike is survived by his wife of 16 years, Patsy; children, Stephanie Lively, Kaci Bain, Brandon Burkeen (Jonie), and Breanna Crim; Brothers, Jim Burkeen (Samar); Sisters, Sandra Burkeen (Billy) and Cathy Campbell; Mother-in-Law, Charlotte Ann Crim; 10 Grandchildren, Zaylyn, Chelsi and Jakob Bain; Brayden, Bryce, Kendyl and Karsyn Burkeen; Anna, Elliana, Jillian Lively.

Mike was preceded in death by parents, James and Nell Burkeen; grandparents, Lewis B and Ollie Grace Burkeen, Jack and Lydia Arene Gooden; nephew, Jarod Burkee; Sons-in-law, Joe Bain and Clinton Rice; Brother-in-law, Bobby Campbell.
