She graduated from Goldthwaite High School in 1951 & went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Goldthwaite. She married the love of her life, Doyle Head, on June 6, 1953 in Goldthwaite, TX and they shared 69 wonderful years together.
Doyle joined the army in 1954 and was stationed at Ft Bliss in El Paso, Texas until 1956. Dorene worked at the PX at Biggs Air Force base during their time in El Paso. Dorene was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church and a member of the “JOY” Sunday School class. She and her husband have lived at Lake Brownwood for over 30 years. She spoke often of how blessed they were to live on the lake and how much she loved it there. There is a sign on their porch that reads “A fisherman lives here with the best catch of his life!” That was exactly what she was! She loved to sew, bake and enjoyed fishing for crappie from their dock. She and Doyle were often seen zipping from the house to the dock in a golf cart to check throw lines. She loved her family very much and was lovingly called Grandmother or Grandma by her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
