Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Smith went home to Jesus on November 09, 2022 at the age 63. She was healed from her tough battle with cancer, peacefully, while surrounded by family who loved her dearly. Beth was born to Nancy and Bill Smith on January 11, 1959 in Odessa, Texas.

She lived the majority of her life in Brownwood, Texas, before relocating to Belton in 2015. She was a 1977 graduate of Brownwood High School. Beth loved Jesus and she lived like Jesus! In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother to her daughter, Kyla, she was our Matriarch. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. She was a lover of music, her olive wood/beads, working with youth, making jewelry, cooking (we all know Bethie’s eggs , biscuits and gravy were the best), church, her friends, and most fiercely, her family (both blood and adopted). She was a true disciple, and portrayed the true embodiment of unconditional love, a Christ-like love. She was a woman who you never had to doubt where you stood with her and just being in her presence had a way of soothing your soul. Not two of her relationships were alike, each person had their own special bond with her. She loved people in such a way that each one felt she loved them the most and they were the most precious to her. That is the legacy that was left behind for us to follow. Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” (Isaiah‬ ‭26‬:‭3‬ ‭KJV‬‬) She taught us all to strive for this kind of peace.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Billy Earl Smith Sr and Nancy Juan Yancy Smith, two brothers, Billy Earl Smith Jr and Karl Gene Smith, a nephew Billy Paul Smith, and all grandparents.

Surviving Beth’s beautiful life are her daughter-by-choice Kyla Qualley of Temple; two brothers and their wives, Melvin & Patty Smith of Arlington, Jimmy & Debbie Smith of Bryan; two sisters, Nita Henderson of Temple, Rhonda Robbins and husband Daniel of Keller; sister-in-law Jennifer Thompson and husband Tommy of Early; her honorary sons Josh Qualley and his family Amanda, Haylei, Zaiden, and Remi of Brownwood & Chris Qualley of Kosse; nieces and nephews Stacy, Tiffany (Dusty), Brad, Colin (Ashlyn), Brooke, Matthew (Ali), Cody, Tanner, Nikki, Mason, LaShae (Aaron), Bailey (Chris), Karlee, Cade, and Hannah; 17 great nieces & nephews.

Beth’s Celebration of Life will be on December 17th, 2022. The family invites you for a visitation at 12:30, just prior to her Celebration of Life service. Her Celebration service will be at 2:30 at Calvary Baptist Church, Brownwood. TX. There will be a burial to follow at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood.

In lieu of flowers you may donate in Beth’s honor to assist in continued care and needs of her daughter… https://everloved.com/life-of/mary-elizabeth-smith/
