Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood and the local health department will give 600 doses of the COVID vaccine this Wednesday at Gordon Wood Stadium, but only if you are already on the health department vaccine list. You can’t just show up and ask for the vaccine.
If you have your name on the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department list to receive the COVID vaccine, check your e-mail. Those emails should go out today (Monday).
Lisa Dick, administrator of the local health department, explained the procedure to Brownwood County Commissioners on Monday.
“We are receiving 600 vaccines through the hospital and so Hendrick Brownwood and the health department are combining forces. We will be having a drive through for 600 doses on Wednesday. What we’ll be doing is – we’ll be taking the people that signed up on the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department list. We’ll be sending out information to those that meet the qualifications.”
If you have not put your name on the list yet, there is a link to sign up on the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department website through the City of Brownwood or CLICK HERE to go to that page.
“The hospital has also agreed that we will work off the same list, so they will be referring people to the Brownwood/Brown County list so that will be a concerted effort with both groups together,” Dick said.
Only a small percentage of those who have registered to receive the shot will receive the vaccine this Wednesday as almost 4,000 people have registered through the health department.
In other business from the county commission meeting, there was no discussion or action taken on the agenda item regarding speed limits on county roads. It is expected to be placed back on the next agenda. County Sheriff Vance Hill also gave the annual Racial Profiling Report to commissioners court.
