HPU Lands 6 Lady Jackets & 4 Jackets on All-Conference Teams

ASCLogo2Howard Payne University senior point guard Brittany Roberson headlines a group of six Lady Jacket players on the 2012 American Southwest Conference Women’s Basketball All-Conference and All-Division selections, the ASC office announced on Wednesday, following a vote of the league’s head coaches.

Brittany Roberson earned the title of ASC West Division Player of the Year after averaging 13.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game. She also shot 48.8 percent from the field and led the league in 3-point percentage, connecting on 28 of 59 tries from beyond the arc. Roberson, who was selected to the All-Division first team, were also named to the prestigious six-player ASC All-Conference Team.

Jasmin Thomas was named Second Team All-West Division and to the West Division All-Defensive Team. Thomas led the ASC in steals with 3.2 per game. She averaged 10.2 points per game for the Lady Jackets.

Roshonda Gayden was named Honorable Mention ASC West Division. Gayden was second on the team in scoring with 10.7 points per game. She also led HPU in rebounding with 7.5 per game. 

Dana Marrs  was named Honorable Mention ASC West Division. Marrs averaged 8.7 points per game and led the team in three-point baskets with 39. She also grabbed 3.1 rebounds per game.

Abby Parmelly was named Honorable Mention ASC West Division. She was third on the team in assists with 55 and grabbed 60 rebounds on the season.

Breanna Conway  was named to the ASC West Division Freshman Team. She scored 30 points and grabbed 20 rebounds for HPU. Conway shot 48% from the field and blocked three shots.

Brandon Irwin and Brandon Gould lead a foursome of Howard Payne University players on the 2012 American Southwest Conference Men’s Basketball All-Conference and All-Division selections, the ASC office announced on Thursday, following a vote of the league’s head coaches.

Brandon Irwin was named to the ASC West Division First Team after finishing second in the ASC in scoring at 21.6 points per game(2nd in ASC). Irwin also grabbed 5.6 rebounds per game and hit a team high 53 three-points baskets on the season.

Brandon Gould was named the ASC West Division Freshman of the Year, Honorable Mention West Division and to the West Division Freshman Team, after averaging 11.8 points and 3.4 assists per game. Gould also led the team in steals with 46 on the year.

Joshua Dada gained Honorable Mention West Division and West Division Defensive Team honors. Dada averaged 10.2 points per game in 23 starts. He averaged 3.4 rebounds per game and was second on the team in blocks with 20.

Ja’Kalan Gayden made the ASC West Division Freshman Team after starting in 21 of 24 games played for Howard Payne. He led the team in blocks with 22 and rebounding with 6.8 per game.
